On Gov Umo Eno’s Hands-On Project Inspection and Delivery Culture

By Ekemini James

“This inspection, for me, is to give me an on-the-spot assessment and monitor our timelines. Everywhere I went to, I can tell you that I am satisfied at the pace of work, and the quality of work done.”

“All of these works you see me inspect today, I have payment vouchers waiting for me to sign off. So, I have to come to see and be sure that they have reached certain levels before we can make the next set of payments.” – Gov. Umo Eno

Governor Umo Eno’s personal inspection of key project sites across the state yesterday clearly shows the kind of leadership we have at the helm of affairs, one that does not solely rely on briefs and reports but prioritizes physical inspection to ensure effective service delivery.

The inspection tour covered strategic projects including the Aviation Village, Legislators’ and Executive Quarters at Dakkada Luxury Estate, the Equipment Leasing Company, and the CNG Bus Terminal.

To Governor Eno, project delivery is not a process to be managed from reports alone; it is one that demands physical presence and critical assessment, driven by a deliberate governance culture that prioritizes first-hand verification.

Over time, this has ensured that timelines are met, quality standards are upheld, and contractors remain accountable to their obligations.

In essence, what Governor Eno has institutionalized is a governance style where monitoring is proactive, funding is performance-based, and delivery is measurable.

It is a system that aligns resources with results and ensures that public projects are not abandoned, delayed, or poorly executed.

With this deliberate and disciplined strategy, the Governor will not leave unfinished projects for his successor at the end of his eight years in office.

This inspection culture is further complemented by the monthly project delivery and review meetings, where the Governor engages his team in periodic assessments of ongoing projects across the state.

Governor Eno’s delivery meetings has enhanced a performance-driven environment within the state’s project ecosystem. Contractors are aware that their work will be scrutinized monthly while timelines and quality remains non-negotiable standard.

Ultimately, Governor Umo Eno’s administration is not only committed to initiating projects but also ensures their timely and qualitative completion in line with the ARISE Agenda.
