A fatal accident involving operatives of the Abia State combined security agencies nicknamed Operation Crush, occurred in Umuahia, resulting in the d3ath of one officer.

It was gathered that several other security personnel were injured in the accident which occurred at Ihie Ibeku along the Bende Road in Umuahia on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

According to eyewitness reports, the vehicle carrying the operatives veered off the road and plunged into a deep ditch, apparently as the driver lost control while on motion.

Three other security personnel are reportedly missing while rescue efforts continue at the crash scene.

Six operatives have been rescued and taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia for urgent medical attention while one NSCDC officer has been confirmed d3ad.

One of the members of “Operation Crush” who was declared missing after the accident was later found alive.

The road, known for its narrow and challenging topography, is part of the federal highway linking the state capital to Bende to Ohafia, Arochukwu and other parts of the State.
