Reading Time: 2 mins read

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu and midfielder Joe Aribo were the key figures in Southampton’s 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Aribo, 28, opened the scoring for Southampton in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a deflected cross that fell into his path, giving the visitors the lead.

Aribo drew first blood with a near finish for Southampton.

Despite Ipswich’s dominance in the first half, the Blues quickly responded with Liam Delap’s equalizer in the 31st minute.

Delap fired past Southampton keeper Aaron Ramsdale after a clever through ball from Nathan Broadhead, making it 1-1.

However, it was Onuachu who sealed the win for Southampton.

Onuachu and Aribo contributions in this game were vital as Southampton grabbed a rare win in a relegation six-pointer.

Despite their second win of the season Southampton remain 20th with 9 points.

Ipswich, despite a strong performance, stay in 19th with 16 points after 24 matches, continuing their fight for survival at the bottom of the table.
