The infrastructural transformation of Oron town in Akwa Ibom comes under focus in faraway London next week following an initiative floated by concerned indigenes in the Diaspora.
The indigenes are under the aegis of Oron Development Union (ODU), UK and Ireland chapter.
To actualise the dream, an Appeal Fund will be launched in London on July 25 as part of activities lined up to mark the 2026 Oron Day.
The announcement came in a statement jointly signed by its President and Publicity Secretary, Lady Atai Tina Umoh Bassey and Mr. Victor Mkpofor, respectively.
“Let’s keep the excitement alive, spread the word, invite our family and friends and make this landmark event a resounding success. Together, let’s celebrate our heritage and build the Oron of our dreams,” they stated.
Proud sons and daughters of Oron town based in the UK and Ireland are enjoined to donate generously to the Appeal Fund and the proceeds are earmarked for infrastructural projects situated in their community in Akwa Ibom State.
