Member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, has responded to Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following the singer’s allegation that the lawmaker was pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the outcome of the Osun governorship election.

Davido, who is the nephew of Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, had accused Faleke of attempting to influence the electoral process and urged him to respect the wishes of voters.

“Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO,” Davido wrote on X.

Faleke, however, dismissed the allegation, saying his presence in Osun was to support the candidate of his party, just as Davido campaigned for his uncle’s party, Accord.

“I came to Osun to support my party’s candidate, while you supported your uncle’s party (Accord),” Faleke said.

The lawmaker also rejected the suggestion that he had the capacity to influence INEC or manipulate the election result.

“INEC is a body that can’t be influenced by me or anyone else. I have never influenced or rigged before and I don’t plan to start now. Face your music while we face our politics,” he added.

The exchange followed Davido’s declaration that he would not support the All Progressives Congress, amid his criticism of the ruling party and its supporters.

“I CAN NEVER SUPPORT APC IN MY LIFE!!!” the singer wrote in another post on X.

Davido also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to call members and supporters of the ruling party to order, writing, “Call your pple to order!! @officialABAT.”

The political exchange came as the final results of the August 15 Osun governorship election were being collated, with Faleke backing APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji against the incumbent governor.

INEC subsequently declared Adeleke the winner of the election on Sunday, securing his re-election as Osun State governor.
