A close associate of Kumawood actor, Oteele, has dismissed the trending reports claiming that the actor has gotten his wife, Gifty Nana Afriyie, arrested over the leakage of his private video.
The denial was made in a TikTok video posted on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in which a member of Oteele’s team addressed the reports and described them as false.
Prior to this, reports that trended on social media alleged that Oteele contacted the police on the evening of Monday, August 17, to get his wife arrested over accusations that she was responsible for leaking the private video.
Gifty, who has been married to the actor for several years, had previously denied being the person who released the footage.
Addressing the latest claims, Oteele’s associate insisted that neither the alleged arrest nor the claim that the actor had caused his wife to be arrested was true.
“Oteele has not been arrested. If you have heard somewhere or seen a breaking news on a social media live session or someone called to inform you that Oteele has gotten his wife arrested, it is not true,” he said.
He further clarified that the identity of the person responsible for releasing the video has not yet been established.
“We have not identified the person who released the video to the public. We are still searching, and we promise you that you will know the person very soon because it has become a police matter,” he added.
The clarification comes amid intense public interest in the controversy surrounding Oteele and the alleged private video, which has generated widespread discussion on social media.
Gifty previously appeared emotional while addressing the controversy and denied being the woman featured in the alleged footage. She also apologised publicly on behalf of her family.
With the matter now reportedly involving the police, Oteele’s team says efforts are ongoing to identify the individual responsible for making the private footage public.
