Oyo govt demolishes building where Adelabu’s kidnapped sister, twins were kept

The Oyo State government has demolished a three-bedroom bungalow in which Mrs. Olaide John-Paul, and her twin sons were allegedly kept after they were abducted in Ibadan.

Mrs John-Paul is the younger sister of Adebayo Adelabu, a former minister of power, and governorship aspirant.

The building, located in the Lako Community, Aiyegun- Anaye road area of Ibadan, Oyo state capital, was demolished on Monday.

On June 3, John-Paul and her sons were ambushed and kidnapped by armed men while on her way to drop off the twins at school. They were rescued on Saturday by security operatives.

The police later announced that operatives arrested four suspected members of the gang linked to the abduction.

Ayanlade Olayinka, spokesperson of the Oyo police command, said the suspects conducted weeks of surveillance on the family, attempted to recruit an insider in their household, and photographed their movements before carrying out the attack in Ibadan.

Olayinka said during rescue efforts, two suspects were killed, while one Wale Abolalewa, also known as “Oloro”, who was already on the police watchlist for related criminal activities, was arrested.
