The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has uploaded its candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

The announcement was made on Sunday through a statement signed by the faction’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed.

The faction described the development as a major milestone in its preparations for the 2027 elections and a demonstration of its commitment to participating fully in the electoral process.

The statement said the development marked another decisive step towards fulfilling its pledge to contest the 2027 elections at all levels.

It noted that the upload of its governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates was still ongoing and expressed optimism that the process would be completed successfully.

The Wike backed PDP leadership congratulated members of the party across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the latest development, describing it as a collective achievement.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening internal unity and positioning the party for success in the forthcoming elections.

The party said it remained focused on building a stronger and more united platform capable of offering Nigerians a better future as preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum.

The development comes against the backdrop of a statement by Wike a few days ago, that the PDP did not have the required structure to win the 2027 presidential election.

The Minister is rooting for the victory of President Bola Tinubu who is seeking re-election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Wike backed faction is contesting the legitimacy of the PDP leadership with a rival faction with Mr Kabiru Turaki, SAN, as National Chairman.

The two opposition factions are laying claim to the leadership of the fractured opposition party which is still embroiled in a plethora of court cases over which faction should be accorded official recognition by INEC.
