The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Cross River State Command, has arrested a notorious kidnapper known as Tallest who was involved in the kidnapping of a Prophetess, Emmanuel Otu, in Calabar.

According to a press statement by SP Irene Ugbo, Police spokesperson in the state on Friday, 14th June, Tallest was arrested at CUDA on 5th June, 11 days after kidnapping Prophetess Otu.

Ugbo said the arrest was made by the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS), a tactical unit of the police, involved in the rescue of the Prophetess on 29th May 2024.

“The Cross River State Police Command has successfully apprehended a notorious kidnapping gang leader known as ‘Tallest,’ whose other names are yet unknown.

“This arrest was executed by a team of policemen from the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS) on 5th June 2024.

“Tallest was apprehended following the release of Prophetess Emmanuel Otu, a resident of Nyangassan by the 2nd Transformer in Calabar Municipality, who was kidnapped on 25th May 2024, and released on 29th May 2024.

“Acting on credible information, law enforcement officers trailed and arrested Tallest in the CUDA environs.

“He is currently in police custody, and an investigation has commenced to determine his involvement in various heinous crimes.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices as the investigation progresses,” SP Ugbo said in a statement.

The statement also conveyed the message of the state Commissioner of Police, CP G.A. Grimah, to the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.

“The CP assures Cross Riverians and the general public of the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

“He encourages all citizens to remain law-abiding, prayerful, and exhibit a spirit of patriotism for peaceful coexistence.

“Let us work together for a purposeful Cross River State and a better Nigeria,” the statement added.
