Police arrest secondary school student, 2 others over fake news in Akwa Ibom

UYO (CONVERSEER) – The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old girl, Miss Favour Emenyi, a student of Mary Hanney Secondary School, Oron, over fake news.

Arrested alongside Hanney for alleged fake news fabrication and circulation were Lexis Christopher and Stephen Owen.

According to a statement signed by DSP Timfon John,
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, on Tuesday, the suspects will be charged to court.

“…suspects arrested for the offence of fake news fabrication and circulation namely Lexis Christoper, Stephen Okwen, and Miss Favour Emenyi ‘f’ aged 15yrs, a student of Mary Hanney Secondary School, Oron are all on their way to court.

The statement also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Azare, has ordered the arrest of policemen escorting unauthorised VIPs as well as directed rigorous stop-and-search operations.
