Prince Otu Makes 44 Appointments to Kick-Start Government

Barely one week (7 days) after his inauguration as the 15th Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has made 44 appointments to kick-start his government.

The appointments were contained in three separate press releases signed by Dr Innocent Eteng, Permanent Secretary, General Administration Office of the Secretary to the State Government on Monday, June 5, 2023.

CONVERSEER learned from the press releases that all the appointments take effect immediately.

1. The Appointments Contained In A Press Release With Reference Number: Our Ref: SSG/GAO/102/VOL.VI/217

“His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, has approved the following appointments:

1. Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh – Secretary to the State Government (SSG)

2. Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar – Chief of Staff

3. Major Gen. Okoi Ubi Obono (Rtd) – Senior Special Adviser – Security (State Security Adviser)

4. AIG John Abang (Rtd) – Special Adviser — Security (Central)

5. Mr Achu Ben Olayi – Special Adviser — Security (North)

6. Commander Patrick Odiong (Rtd) – Special Adviser — Security (South)

7. Mr Emmanuel Ipole Ogbeche – Chief Press Secretary

8. Mr Sylvester Otu Abang – Acting State Chief of Protocol

2. The Appointments Contained In A Press Release With Reference Number: Our Ref: SSG/GAO/102/VOL.VI/218

“His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, has approved the Constitution of the Taskforce on Recovery of Government vehicles in the state.

The membership of the task force is as follows:

1. Chief Odey Ochicha – Chairman

2. Barr Emmanuel Eyo – Secretary

3. Hon. Charles Atu – Member

4. Chief Ayi Etum Effiong – Member

5. Mr Goddy Nyiam – Member

6. Mr Emmanuel Abeng – Member

7. Mr Emmanuel Awubi – Member

8. Magnus Kale – Member

9. CSP Moses Yisa – Member

10. DSC. EgohAyamba – Member

11. Barr. Gilbert Agbor Ntui – Member

12. Comrade Ben Okorie – Member

13. Mr Mike Nsan – Member

14. Chief Stanley Effiom – Member

15. Raymond Yenochia Ogar – Member

“The Taskforce is mandated to commence the immediate recovery of all Government vehicles and hand over same to the Transport Officer, Governor’s Office for appropriate documentation and custody”.

3. The Appointments Contained In A Press Release With Reference Number: Our Ref: SSG/GAO/102/VOL.VI/219

“His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, has approved with immediate effect, the constitution of a Special Taskforce on Anti-Deforestation as follows:

2. Mr Pius Abang – Secretary

3. Chief Cyril Asuquo – Member

4. Mr Sunny Ayang – Member

5. Mr Edet Okon Ekpo – Member

6. Effiong Okon – Member

10. Mr Isaac Obo – Member

11. Mr Idagu Charles lye – Member

“The Taskforce has the mandate to curb all forms of illegal wood logging in our forest, with a view to preserving the rich biodiversity of the state as well as apprehend defaulters”.
