Renowned 46-Year-Old Doctor Arrested for Allegedly Attempting to Murder His Elegant Nuclear Engineer Wife by Pushing Her from a Scenic Hawaii Location

A prominent doctor tried to murd£r his nuclear engineer wife by shoving her off a trail in Hawaii and hitting her in the head with a rock, according to police.  

Gerhardt Konig, 46, was arrested on Monday, March 24, after he allegedly attacked his 36-year-old wife, Arielle Konig, at the Pali Lookout in Oahu, leaving her in critical condition. 

Arielle reportedly told officials Konig had assaulted her with closed fists and a rock before he tried to shove her off the hiking trail.

In a chilling sign the alleged attempted murd£r was pre-planned, Konig is said to have produced two syringes containing an unknown substance and poked Arielle with them. 

Arielle told police Konig attacked her after she refused to take a picture with him, according to the Star Advertiser.  

She was taken to the hospital with serious head and facial injuries, local media reported.

Konig, an anesthesiologist, took off after the attempted murd£r but was taken into custody after a short foot chase.  

He was found near the hiking trail after fleeing the scene on foot, officials said.

“HPD officers located Gerhardt Konig near Pali Highway and arrested him after a brief foot pursuit. Charges are pending. Mahalo to the public for your assistance,” Honolulu police said in a statement. 

The couple lives in Maui in a $1.5million home, but were visiting the beauty spot in Oahu at the time of the alleged incident.  

They have been married since 2018. 

Konig was previously married and has at least one child.  

Konig has been suspended from his job for an independent contractor that serves various facilities under Maui Health. 

“Maui Health is committed to patient safety and upholding the highest standards of care,” Maui Health told KHON2 a statement.  

“We have been made aware of the allegations against Gerhardt Konig, MD. Dr. Konig has been suspended from the Medical Staff pending investigation.” 

Konig previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Engineering. 

He then took a partner role at the Anesthesia Medical Group in Maui.
