Rerun: CRSG restricts movement in 3 LGAs

The Government of Cross River State has issued a restriction of movement in three Local Government Areas, LGAs due to the upcoming elections rerun.

According to a public announcement by Major General Okoi Ubi Obono (Rtd), Senior Special Adviser on Security on Wednesday, the affected LGAs are Biase, Obanliku and Yala, and the date is 3rd of February 2024.

The public announcement read as follows…

“The Office of the State Security Adviser wishes to inform residents of these local governments; Biase, Obanliku and Yala, that re-run elections are slated for February 3, 2024.

“In view of this, the general public are advised to take note and observe the following on the Election Day:

i. There will be vehicular restrictions during the voting process from 6am to 2pm in the aforementioned local governments.

ii. Use of motorcycles during the exercise is prohibited.

iii. Individuals who are not part of the electoral process either as voters, electoral officials, media, security and those on essential duties are strongly advised to stay away from the polling units.

iv. All markets in the affected local governments are to take note of the timeframe and not open before then.

v. Those who contravene this directive will face the full wrath of the law. Please take note.”
