Port Harcourt, Rivers State — The Rivers State Government has denounced a misleading report circulating on social media claiming that Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the shutdown of all oil companies, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), within the state.

The government dismissed the news as false and labelled it as a baseless fabrication by “enemies of the State.”

In an official statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, on Thursday, the government clarified that Governor Fubara has neither considered nor directed any such action.

The statement highlighted the governor’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and addressing governance issues through lawful and constructive measures, rather than “unconventional and crude approaches.”

The statement further urged citizens of Rivers State and Nigerians at large to disregard the “spurious and fake report,” describing the source of the rumour as “an inconsequential and unverified medium.”

Governor Fubara remains focused on fostering economic growth and stability in the region and has assured the public of his commitment to policies that support the economic and social well-being of the state.
