Former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, has picked Argentina captain Lionel Messi ahead of Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo in the debate over who is the better player.
The former Bolton Wanderers midfielder made his choice while responding to a question on the ObiOne Podcast.
Okocha described Messi as a player who is “from another planet,” highlighting the Argentine’s exceptional talent and ability.
He, however, acknowledged Ronaldo’s qualities, describing the Portuguese forward as a special player and an outstanding goalscorer.
“Messi for me. Ronaldo is special, but he’s a goalscorer like Haaland.
“Messi is on another planet. He was born to play football. I think Messi would get ill if he didn’t play football,” Okocha said.
Messi and Ronaldo dominated the football world for over a decade and won 13 Ballon d’Or awards between them.
