Rwanda: Embassy Hosts Farewell Reception for Scholarship Winners

KIGALI, Rwanda, August 15, 2026/APO Group/ —

On August 14, Chinese Embassy in Rwanda hosted a farewell reception for Rwandan students who won 2026 Chinese Government Scholarships. Ambassador GAO Wenqi, Dr. Edward KADOZI, Director General of Higher Education Council attended the event and delivered remarks. Minaffet representatives, Scholarship winners and representatives from the Rwanda-China Alumni Association were present.

Ambassador GAO extended warm congratulations to Rwandan students who won 2026 Chinese Government Scholarships. He encouraged them to cherish the valuable opportunity, study diligently, master knowledge and enhance capabilities, and contribute to Rwanda’s national development after completing studies. He called on the students to serve as young envoys of friendship between China and Rwanda. 

Amb. GAO expressed appreciation to Rwandan Government for strong support to China-Rwanda educational cooperation that has yielded fruitful results. Highlighting the 55th anniversary of China-Rwanda diplomatic relations and China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, he reaffirmed China’s readiness to work with Rwanda to advance bilateral cooperation in education and youth exchanges, and contribute to the development of China-Rwanda comprehensive strategic partnership.

Dr. Edward KADOZI spoke highly of Rwanda-China relations and expressed appreciation for China’s long-term support to education cause of Rwanda, which vividly embodies the comprehensive strategic partnership between Rwanda and China. He hoped the students would successfully complete their studies in China and apply what they have learned to Rwanda’s development. He encouraged them to better understand Chinese culture and serve as bridges and bonds of friendship between the two peoples.

Representatives of the students pledged to study diligently and actively contribute to friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
