Sen. Sandy Onor, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governorship Candidate for Cross River in the 2023 general election has bestowed his daughter’s hand in marriage.
The marriage, CONVERSEER reports took place last week Saturday (16 December 2023) at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Big Qua Town Parish, Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
The marriage was between Helen Echiko Ogboh and Augustine Ogar Ojugbo, who marked a significant chapter in their journey of love.
Joining the couples in their unionism, Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong, Chancellor of the Arthur Jarvis University, AJU and PDP Governorship Aspirant in his remark, emphasised the importance of steadfastness, urging the couple to uphold and honour their vows.
Archibong cautioned against letting their marriage vows resemble the empty promises of some politicians who often backtrack after taking office, admonishing the couple to remain true to their commitments.

“I encourage you to approach your marriage vows with genuine commitment, avoiding the pitfalls of broken promises, akin to some politicians who renege on their oaths once in office,” Archibong to the couples.
He stated further that the inevitable challenges that come with each passing day in marriage, including trials and temptations, emphasising the pivotal roles of trust and friendship in navigating these challenges.
“Indeed, you should recognise that with each passing day, you may encounter trials and temptations inherent in marriage. Navigating these challenges will heavily rely on the foundation of trust and friendship you build together,” Archibong told the couples.
The marriage was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including the former governor of Cross River State, HE Donald Duke, and Barr. (Mrs) Gertrude-Manyo Sandy Onor.
Key figures present comprised the State Chairman of the PDP, Barr. Vena Ikem, alongside the Deputy-Chairman, Vice Chairman (North) and Secretary, Hon. Denis Nkiri, Mr Austine Edibe and Mr Tony Edakor, respectively.
Noteworthy attendees also encompassed the PDP State Publicity Secretary and State Youth Leader, Prince Mike Ojisi and Mr Brown Odey, along with Barr. Godwin Offiono and Hon. Peter Akpanke, Members Representing Ogoja/Yala and Obanliku/Bekwarra/Obudu Federal Constituencies.
Additionally, the Holy Matrimony featured prominent Rt. Honourables, including Wilson Ekpenyong, Fred Okpa Osim, Effa Esua, Itam Abang, former Obudu Council Chairman, Hon. Emma Ugbeh, Dr Richard Omang Ntui, Dr Ekeng Edet, Barr. BOB and Pst. Obi Ebam, among others.
Notably, representatives from the academic community, such as Dr Pauline Ekuri, Deputy-Dean of Students’ Affairs at the University of Calabar, UNICAL, and Dr Dave Imbua from the Department of History and International Studies, were also in attendance.
