Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos has joined Liga MX club Monterrey on a free transfer.
The 38-year-old former Real Madrid defender, who left Sevilla at the end of the 2023-24 season, has signed a one-year contract with the Mexican club. Monterrey currently stands 10th in Liga MX.
Ramos, who is Spain’s most-capped player, has chosen 93 as his shirt number, marking the 93rd-minute goal he scored in the 2014 Champions League final, when Madrid beat city rivals Atletico Madrid.
After leaving Madrid in 2021, Ramos spent two seasons playing alongside Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain.
Ramos spent 16 seasons for Real Madrid. He played 671 games, scoring 101 goals and 40 assists as a defender. He won a handful of trophies with the Madrid team, including four UEFA Champions Leagues. He was also FIFA Club World Champion the same number of times.
The former captain of the Spanish national team played in 180 matches and scored 23 goals. With Spain, he was the world champion and twice the European champion.
