Social media users call for the arrest of Obuasi SHTS students who assaulted their headmaster

A section of Ghanaians on social media is demanding the immediate arrest of students captured in a viral video assaulting the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS).

The calls follow the circulation of the disturbing footage showing a group of students confronting the headmaster at his bungalow.

In the videos, some of the students are seen physically assaulting and verbally insulting him. At the same time, another clip appears to show the headmaster with a head injury as he pleaded for forgiveness.

The incident is alleged to have been triggered by claims linking the headmaster to alleged sexual misconduct involving some female students.

However, these allegations have not been independently verified, and the authorities have released no official findings.

Reacting to the videos, many social media users condemned the students’ actions, insisting that no allegation justifies taking the law into one’s own hands.

They argued that if the claims against the headmaster are true, the matter should be investigated by the appropriate authorities rather than resulting in mob justice.

Some users also lamented what they described as a decline in discipline and respect within schools, recalling a time when students would not even dare argue with a classroom teacher.
