South South Governors have called for an increase in oil derivation revenue that accrues to them from the federation account.
This was contained in a release from the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Cross River State.
The governors made the call on Wednesday, January 29 at the South South Governors’ Forum held in Bayelsa State.
For now the benefitting states get 13 percent as derivation from the federation account.
Rising from the meeting of the
South-South Governors’ Forum, the governors said the 13 percent current derivation was not enough considering the need to develop the region effectively.
The Region however declared their support for the Federal Government’s Tax Reform.
 At the end of the meeting, the Governor  of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri emerged Chairman of the South-South Governors Forum.
Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu who was also at the meeting emerged the Vice Chairman of the Forum.
