Speed Darlington Signals Possible Legal Dispute with Burna Boy Following His Arrest and Detention

Speed Darlington Tells Detractors to Step Aside Following Lawyer’s Departure

Controversial Nigerian musician Darlington Achakpo Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has stated that those who are weary of supporting should step aside.

Speed Darlington, who has just been released from police detention following his arrest for defaming Burna Boy, made the remarks in a post on Instagram after his lawyer, Stan Alieke, cut ties with him.

Recall that in a post shared on his Instagram page on Sunday night, the Abuja-based lawyer disclosed that he and his law firm have officially withdrawn from representing Speed Darlington.

However, Stan Alieke, who represented Speed Darlington in his protracted legal battle with Grammy Award-winning musician Burna Boy, did not disclose why he had decided to take the decision.

‘‘I and my law firm (Law Capitol) have officially withdrawn from legally representing Mr Darlington Achakpo aka Speed Darlington/ AKPI & henceforth cease to act as his legal attorneys.’’ Stan Alieke wrote on his Instagram page.

While reacting to his former lawyer’s decision to part ways with him, Speed Darlington responded by pointing out that while he put a large portion of his personal funds into his music business, many others did not make a substantial contribution to his path to freedom.

He said, “I’m on my way to the studio for more music. My life is my content. Let nobody tell me what to post. If you are tired of supporting, you get lost. And let my God guide me.

“Support, support, how many of you spend money? I spend my own money, so shut up. Let me do what I want and keep your advice to yourself. I have been there and done that; the fear is not the same.”
