The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria supreme council for islamic Affairs NSCIA, Muhammad sa’ad Abubakar
has called on the Muslim Ummah to look out for the new Moon of Safar 1448AH on Tuesday, 14th July 2026, corresponding to the 29th day of Muharram 1448AH.
The call is contained in a press statement by Wazirin Sokoto and the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu.
It requested Muslims to begin the search for the new Moon on Tuesday and report any sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad sa’ad Abubakar.
