Three school pupils in Durban were rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, February 4, after being st@bbed during an alleged racial altercation.
Centenary Secondary School in Asherville issued a notice to parents, announcing that classes would be dismissed early at 9:30 a.m. due to “circumstances that have arisen.”
Videos circulating on social media captured chaotic scenes outside the school, showing pupils attacking each other while neighbors filming the incident questioned the absence of security intervention. dRK Tactical confirmed to TimesLIVE that three pupils sustained serious injuries in the altercation.
“There was a racial altercation inside the school. Three pupils were st@bbed and taken to the hospital. Security personnel and police responded to the incident,” a representative stated.
Despite the violence, the school informed parents that classes would resume as normal on Wednesday, February 5.
However, a voice note from a witness urged parents of the pupils involved to gather at the school. The individual alleged that police attempted to de-escalate the fight inside the school but were unsuccessful.
“When the children were let out, even parents got involved, hitting some children,” the witness claimed, calling for the governing body to take decisive action. Parents were urged to meet at the school to address the situation.
