President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas as the Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).

Namdas replaces Dr Dakorinama George, a former Rivers State Commissioner for Works, who resigned from the position to contest the state’s governorship election.

A former member of the House of Representatives representing Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, Namdas served as spokesperson of the 8th House of Representatives.

He was also an aspirant in the just-concluded APC governorship primary election in Adamawa State and previously served as Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna.

Namdas resigned from his position on the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), representing the North-East Zone, to contest the 2027 Adamawa governorship election

The president also appointed Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

Mr Chukwuma Umeoji was reappointed as Executive Director, Corporate Services, of the company.

Obahiagbon replaces Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who resigned from the position to pursue a political aspiration in his home state.

Umeoji, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the 9th National Assembly, returns to the role after resigning to pursue political ambition.

The appointments take immediate effect.

The BCDA is a federal agency responsible for the development of border communities across Nigeria through the provision of social and infrastructural amenities.

Established under the Border Communities Development Agency Act of 2003, as amended in 2006, the agency also supports planning and development programmes aimed at improving living conditions in border areas.
