ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday will be departing Abuja, Nigeria for an official two-nation working visit to South Africa and Angola, where he will participate in the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg and the 7th African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Summit in Luanda.
A statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday said the President’s first engagement will be the G20 Summit, hosted by South Africa under the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa, who currently chairs the group.
The Johannesburg Summit, scheduled for November 22–23 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, carries the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.”
Leaders from the world’s 20 largest economies, the European Union, the African Union, and invited guests will address critical global challenges across three plenary sessions covering inclusive economic growth, trade, financing for development, debt burdens, disaster risk reduction, climate change, just energy transitions, food security, critical minerals, decent work, and artificial intelligence.
President Tinubu is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines to advance Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda and discuss regional peace, security, and development.

Immediately after the G20 Summit, the President will travel to Luanda for the 7th AU-EU Summit on November 24–25.
The meeting will bring together African and European heads of state and government, as well as young leaders, innovators, and civil society organisations, to deliberate on shared priorities including climate change, inclusive development, infrastructure, the digital economy, creative industries, manufacturing, and agribusiness.
President Tinubu will be accompanied by key cabinet members, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria upon the conclusion of both summits.
