President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday led members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja, returning to the council chamber for the first time since the June 29 meeting.
The session began at the State House shortly after the President arrived at about 2:30 p.m., with the national anthem marking the formal start of proceedings.
Those at the meeting included Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Several ministers, presidential aides and heads of government agencies were also present.
Before proceeding with the day’s agenda, the council paid tribute to two former members of the Federal Executive Council who recently passed away.
Members observed a minute of silence for former Minister of Finance Abubakar Alhaji, who served under the administration of former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida and died on July 30, 2026.
They also honoured Professor Turner Isoun, a former Minister of Science and Technology under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, who died on July 15, 2026.
Wednesday’s meeting follows a lengthy interruption in the council’s regular sessions. The previous FEC meeting was held on June 29 after an earlier break of more than two months.
During that June session, Tinubu swore in Amina Gamawa and Abdullahi Mukhtar as Federal Commissioners representing Bauchi and Kaduna states respectively on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
The council’s latest sitting is expected to address a number of policy and administrative issues connected to the Federal Government’s economic and development priorities.
