Tinubu swears in Alex Ukam as NPC Commissioner in Cross River

President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Mr Alex Ukam as the National Population Commission, NPC Commissioner representing Cross River State.

CONVERSEER reports that Ukam and 16 other commissioners took their oath of office and oath of allegiance before the President on Wednesday, 13 March 2024, in Abuja.

Recall that fortnight ago, the Senate screened and confirmed 17 commissioners out of the 19 commissioners whose nominations were sent by Tinubu as the two others did not appear for screening.

List of newly sworn-in 17 NPC Commissioners and their states:

1. Abia State – Mr Emmanuel Eke

2. Adamawa State – Mr Clifford Zirra

3. Alhambra State – Mr Chidi Ezeoke

4. Borno State – Malam Isa Buratai

5. Cross River State – Mr Alex Ukam

6. Delta State – Blessyn Brume-Maguha

7. Ebonyi State – Dr Jeremiah Nwankwegu

8. Edo State – Dr Tony Alyejina

9. Enugu State – Mr Ejike Ezeh

10. Gombe State – Malam Abubakar Damburam

11. Imo State – Prof. Uba Nnabue

12. Kaduna State – Hajia Sa’adatu Garba

13. Kano State – Dr Aminu Tsanyawa

14. Kogi State – Mr Yori Afolabi

15. Plateau State – Mrs Mary Afan

16. Taraba State – Mr Saany Sale

17. Rivers State – Ogiri Henry

The NPC is Nigeria’s principal data mining commission responsible for collecting, collating, analysing and publishing data about the Nigerian people and economy.

It also has the mandate to undertake demographic sample surveys, compile, collate and publish migration and civil registration statistics as well as monitor the country’s population policy and carry out population census.
