Nigerian Afrobeat singer Tiwa Savage has revealed plans to establish her music empire while also explaining why she does not sign upcoming artistes.
Tiwa Savage, who opened up during an interview with Forbes, disclosed that she has plans in the pipeline to set up her own music empire in order to establish her status as a self-made woman.
While also reflecting on her school days, the mother of one said that there were basic subjects like math, English, and there were also electives like sports, drama, and music, but she chose drama.
“When I was in school, there were basic subjects like math, English, and there were also electives like sports, drama, and music—I chose drama, and just even from earlier on, I knew that I had a gift for acting.
‘‘Even when I started my music career, I knew, at some point, I was going to go back into that field,” she recalled to FORBES AFRICA via a Zoom call.

“Growing up in Nigeria, then moving to the United Kingdom and studying jazz in America, I absorbed different musical influences,” Tiwa Savage explains.
“I can do a jazz record, a garage song, or an Afrobeats track, and it all feels authentic. I have lived these experiences.”
“I want to go into my mogul era”, the ‘Somebody’s Son’ crooner said with conviction.
Tiwa Savage also discussed why she hasn’t signed up-and-coming singers, emphasizing the difficulties and obligations that come with artist management.
“Everyone always says to me, ‘When are you going to sign an artiste?’ I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artiste, because artistes are stressful. I could just be sleeping, and then I will wake up and my artist is trending for something else,” she said.
