Top Stocks to Watch This Week: CHELLARAM, BETAGLASS, NNFM, VITAFOAM, and More

The Nigerian equities market sustained the bullish trend recorded the previous week as investors gained N1.064 trillion on the trading floor of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) last week.

The bourse recorded gains in three of the five trading days as market capitalization increased to N64.7 trillion from N63.6 trillion recorded the previous week.

Similarly, All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.87% to close the week at 104,496.12 points from the 103,598.30 points recorded the previous week.

The market performance was buoyed by strong showings from stocks like CHELLARAM, BETAGLASS, NORTHERN NIGERIA FLOUR MILLS (NNFM), VITAFOAM amongst others to position themselves as stocks to watch in the new week.

VITAFOAM • 31.95 ▴ 2.90 (9.98%)

The current share price of Vitafoam Nigeria (VITAFOAM) is NGN 31.95. VITAFOAM closed its last trading day (Friday, January 31, 2025) at 31.95 NGN per share on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), recording a 10% gain over its previous closing price of 29.05 NGN. Vitafoam began the year with a share price of 23.00 NGN and has since gained 38.9% on that price valuation, ranking it seventh on the NGX in year-to-date performance. Shareholders can be optimistic about VITAFOAM knowing the stock has accrued 31% over the past four-week period alone—fourth best on NGX.

Vitafoam Nigeria is the 66th most traded stock on the Nigerian Stock Exchange over the past three months (Nov 1, 2024 – Jan 31, 2025). VITAFOAM has traded a total volume of 72.5 million shares—in 3,041 deals—valued at NGN 1.75 billion over the period, with an average of 1.15 million traded shares per session. A volume high of 7.26 million was achieved on January 30th, and a low of 16,216 on November 15th, for the same period.

CHELLARAM • 6.53 ▴ 0.59 (9.93%)

The current share price of Chellarams Plc (CHELLARAM) is NGN 6.53. CHELLARAM closed its last trading day (Friday, January 31, 2025) at 6.53 NGN per share on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), recording a 9.9% gain over its previous closing price of 5.94 NGN. Chellarams began the year with a share price of 3.70 NGN and has since gained 76.5% on that price valuation, ranking it second on the NGX in terms of year-to-date performance.

Chellarams is the 115th most traded stock on the Nigerian Stock Exchange over the past three months (Nov 1, 2024 – Jan 31, 2025). CHELLARAM has traded a total volume of 3.64 million shares—in 196 deals—valued at NGN 20.3 million over the period, with an average of 57,763 traded shares per session. NNFM • 60.60 ▴ 5.50 (9.98%)

BETAGLAS • 71.50 ▴ 6.50 (10%)

The current share price of Beta Glass Company (BETAGLAS) is NGN 71.50. BETAGLAS has traded a total volume of 37.4 million shares—in 1,404 deals—valued at NGN 2.06 billion over the period, with an average of 594,246 traded shares per session. A volume high of 7.82 million was achieved on January 13th, and a low of 562 on January 22nd, for the same period.
