Arsenal has come to an agreement with Newcastle United regarding a transfer fee of €90 million (£77 million) for Bruno Guimaraes, as reported by sources in France.

The Premier League champions previously had offers of £55 million and £70 million turned down by Newcastle for the Brazilian international.

Guimaraes has expressed his desire to join Arsenal this summer and has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s team.

As per L’Equipe, Arsenal has now settled on an initial transfer fee of €90 million (£77 million) with Newcastle, and both clubs are currently discussing bonuses and agent fees.

The report further indicates that a full agreement between Newcastle and Arsenal is anticipated ‘in the coming days’.

Additionally, Guimaraes’ former club, Lyon, is expected to receive a payment exceeding €8 million (£6.8 million) due to the 20 percent sell-on clause included in their deal with Newcastle.

In the meantime, talkSPORT reported on Friday that Guimaraes has requested Newcastle to postpone his travel to La Manga for a pre-season training camp, implying that his transfer to Arsenal may be finalized over the weekend.

Guimaraes was expected to resume training with Newcastle on Monday after his participation with Brazil in the World Cup this summer.

The 28-year-old is eager to leave Newcastle to continue competing in the Champions League.

Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League last season and will not be participating in European competitions for the upcoming season.

Guimaraes’ motivation to change clubs is likely to be further reinforced by Eddie Howe’s departure on Thursday.
