Manchester City have identified the player to sign as midfielder, Rodri’s replacement.
Rodri has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer transfer window.
The Spain World Cup winner has already agreed on personal terms with Barcelona to switch clubs.
According to TyCSports, Man City have begun considering Rodri’s replacement, with manager Enzo Maresca’s preferred candidate being Fernandez.
The report added that Maresca wants the Argentina international to control the midfield.
Maresca coached Fernandez during their time together at Chelsea before the Italian departed the Premier League west London club.
It’s to be seen if Fernandez will end up joining Maresca’s side because he has been linked with Real Madrid.
