Brighton & Hove Albion’s latest acquisition, Zadok Yohanna, has disclosed that the club’s esteemed reputation for nurturing young talent significantly influenced his choice to depart from AIK Stockholm.
The 18-year-old Nigerian winger finalized his transfer following an impressive start to the 2026 season in Sweden, where he garnered attention for his speed, direct attacking style, and composure on the ball.
Brighton acted swiftly to secure his signing as part of their ongoing strategy to recruit high-potential young players for the future.
In an interview with the club’s official website, Yohanna mentioned that his frequent viewing of Premier League matches helped him identify where he would best fit within English football.
“I watch Premier League games a lot, so I know the teams that utilize young players, and Brighton is one of them.”
Reflecting on his departure from AIK Stockholm, he stated, “I had a lot of good people around me who took care of me. Everyone loved me, so it was difficult to leave,” after what he characterized as a positive experience in Sweden.
Yohanna also shared that he had a direct conversation with Fabian Hürzeler before finalizing his transfer, and he was motivated by the manager’s encouraging words.
“He urged me to keep fighting and working hard. I will give everything I have and I really want to win trophies with the team,” he expressed.
In recent years, Brighton has established a strong reputation for providing opportunities to emerging talents, and Yohanna is anticipated to be gradually integrated into the first-team setup.
