The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 42-year-old Angolan businessman, Mbala Dajou Abuba, at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) for attempting to smuggle 120 wraps of cocaine to Istanbul, Turkey.

Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a statement, said the suspect was intercepted on February 25, 2025, while boarding Egypt Air Flight MS 880 to Istanbul via Cairo.

A body scan confirmed he had ingested the drugs, leading to his placement under observation. Over several excretions, he expelled 1.829kg of cocaine. He admitted to previously running a delivery service in Angola before turning to drug trafficking.

The NDLEA also made major nationwide drug seizures in Lagos, Imo, Delta, Ibadan, Kwara, Osun, Zamfara, and Borno States.

The anti-narcotics agency continues its nationwide drug awareness campaign, engaging schools, workplaces, and religious centers. Recent activities included lectures at Ansarudeen JSS (Lagos), Loretto Girls School (Anambra), and Tudun Murtala School (Kano).

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), praised officers for their commitment to drug supply reduction and public awareness efforts.
