A massive protest rocked the Malabor Republic in the early hours of today, Tuesday, 2nd July 2024, as residents of Halls 4, 5, and 6, comprising Malabites and Malabresses, took to the streets to decry the persistent lack of electricity and water supply in the community.
The demonstrators, numbering in their hundreds, marched through the streets of UNICAL bearing placards and chanting slogans to express their frustration over the deplorable living conditions.
In response to the protest, Sen. Livinson Arikpo, the Governor General of Malabor, and Comr. Matthias, the Spirit Head of Malabor, addressed the crowd to assuage their concerns.
Arikpo acknowledged the challenges faced by the residents and promised to take immediate action to restore power and water supply to the affected areas.
“We understand the difficulties you are facing, and I assure you that we are working tirelessly to resolve the issues,” Arikpo said.
Comr. Matthias, the Spirit Head of Malabor, urged the protesters to remain calm and peaceful, assuring them that their grievances would be addressed promptly.
“We feel your pain, and we are committed to finding a lasting solution to these challenges,” Matthias said.
The protesters, however, demanded a specific timeline for the restoration of amenities, vowing to continue their agitation until their demands are met.

The Malabor Republic has been plagued by infrastructure challenges in recent times, with residents lamenting the lack of basic services.
The protest highlights the growing discontent among the residents, who are calling on the authorities to address their plight.
Converseer reports that on Monday, 1st July 2024, Law Staff and Students of the institution also protested over insecurity and poor welfare.
Recall that in 2023, the students protested against the management over school fee increments.
