Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) have issued a fresh 7-day ultimatum to domestic airlines demanding the immediate remittance of outstanding 5% Ticket Sales Charges (TSC) owed to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and other regulatory agencies.
‎
‎In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), and signed by the General Secretary of ATSSSAN, Frances Akinjole and the Deputy General Secretary of NUATE, Odinaka Igbokwe, the unions gave the AON seven days from the date of issue to settle all outstanding remittances in full and warned that failure to comply will leave the unions with no alternative but to ’employ every means necessary to protect the sector.’
‎
‎The statement read: “Our unions’ 14-Day Ultimatum titled: Demand for Immediate remittance of Outstanding 5% Ticket Sales Charge (TSC) to Aviation Agencies: 14-Day Ultimatum, dated 8th July 2026, refers.
This referenced notice lapsed on Thursday, 23rd July 2026 and regrettably, willful non-compliance has been recorded.
‎
‎”The aviation agencies remain starved of the required funds to keep our sky safe. At the same time, the “Conditions of Service” of our members in the various agencies continue to be jeopardised because of the non-remittance of the TSC. This unnecessary demotivation factor to the air transport worker is a security and safety risk. In view of the above, we can no longer helplessly fold our hands and allow the safety of our airspace to remain compromised.
‎
‎” We hereby issue a 7-day notice to every TSC defaulter to remit the total debt owed to the agencies; failure to do so will result in our unions’ concrete actions at their various premises.”
