US Mission condemns killing of catholic priest in Kaduna

The United States Mission in Nigeria has condemned the k!lling of Kaduna-based Catholic priest, Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu, describing it as brutal and senseless.

 

Okechukwu was reportedly kidnapped from his residence by suspected bandits on Tuesday night, March 4, and his corpse was found on Wednesday.

 

The cleric was serving at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Tachiri, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“We are distressed by the brutal and senseless killing of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu in Kaduna State, Nigeria. We strongly condemn this horrific act of violence. We extend our deepest condolences to the family, congregation, and community of Father,” the U.S. Mission said.

Two days after the priest’s d3ath, the Mission called on the Nigerian government to find his k!llers.

 

“The U.S. Mission is distressed by the brutal and senseless killing of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

“We strongly condemn this horrific act of violence,” the diplomatic mission said in a terse statement.
