Pro-Trump Georgia State Senator Colton Moore was arrested on Thursday after attempting to enter the Georgia House chambers during Republican Gov. Brian Kemp’s State of the State Address. The state senator had been previously banned from the Georgia House floor.

Moore’s office shared a video Thursday on X, formerly Twitter, of the state senator being arrested by law enforcement officials outside the Georgia House chambers.

“Senator Colton Moore, who exposed and defeated corrupt District Attorney Fani Willis last year, has been arrested by the Anti-Trump Speaker of the Georgia House,” Moore’s office tweeted. “Colton is being held in the same Atlanta jail as President Trump. We are working to ensure his expedient release. Please pray for all those standing up for freedom and peace for all Georgians.”

According to Fox 5, Moore was banished last March from entering the Georgia House floor after making controversial remarks regarding deceased House Speaker David Ralston. At the time, Moore said, “This body is about to memorialize, in my opinion, one of the most corrupt Georgia leaders that we are ever going to see in my lifetime.”

Fox 5 reported that Moore’s attorney confirmed that the state senator had been arrested on Thursday and taken into custody at the Fulton County Jail. The outlet noted that it is not yet clear what charges Moore could face.

In a longer video reposted on X by Moore’s team, Moore can be seen attempting to enter the Georgia House chamber. Moore was blocked by security officials, pushed to the ground, and surrounded by Georgia State Patrol officials.

“This is a joint session of the General Assembly. Your House rules do not apply,” Moore told security at one point in the video. “I’m going into the chamber.”

After Moore was pushed to the ground, a law enforcement officer told Moore, “It’s gone too far.” In response, Moore said, “It has gone too far. I have an obligation to be in that room. I represent 200,000 people in northwest Georgia who duly elected me to be here today, and you’re hindering that. Unconstitutional. You have no respect for the Constitution.”

No elected representative should be thrown to the ground & arrested for fulfilling their constitutional obligation.
I’m happy to help with paying for @realColtonMoore bail.

Prior to Thursday’s incident, Moore released a statement Wednesday on social media, saying, “Speaker @JonBurnsGA is attempting to ARREST and BLOCK me from representing the 53rd District at tomorrow’s State of the State joint session. I will NEVER back down. I will ALWAYS speak the truth and represent the people of Northwest Georgia as their trusted America First Senator. I will be there tomorrow as obligated under Georgia law.”
