A Civil Society Organisation, CSO, Network Against Corruption and Trafficking Initiative, NACAT, has rejected the list of former governors the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC wishes to investigate.

The group in a world press conference on Saturday, in Abuja, wondered why the anti-graft agency omitted former Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State from the list of past governors it is currently probing.

Accordingly, the CSO asked President Bola Tinubu to consolidate on his renewed thrust for fiscal probity and accountable governance by compelling the EFCC to beam its searchlight on horrendous financial activities perpetuated by Ayade during his tenure as the state governor.

According to The Guardian Newspaper, NACAT’s Executive Director of Investigation, Tega Oghenedoro commended the president for allowing an encouraging environment for the anti-corruption fight to thrive.

Oghenedoro said the recent moves by anti-graft agencies to revive the fight against corruption and nepotism came as a surprise to many Nigerians.

CONVERSEER earlier reported that the senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District, Sen. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, had called on the EFCC to probe Ayade, alleging that he looted the state for 8 years as a governor.

“It’s only in Cross River State that a Governor will loot for 8 years, without completing one known useful or functional project and walk away proudly without a probe,” Jarigbe said.

Adding, “What was the percentage of the total income of the State, spent on food on the table? It was a very negligible percentage. Where did the rest of the funds go to? How is the new Government taking off? Was there anything left in the Treasury of the State? The Anti-Graft Agencies should answer Cross Riverians. It is time for us to ask questions and it’s time for answers to be given. What happened to the litany of Petitions before EFCC?”
