Woman Flogged for Allegedly Stealing Plantain in Akwa Ibom

Members of Ikot Akpandem in Okon Eket, Akwa Ibom State subjected a woman identified as Obot Udo Ekpo to flogging for allegedly stealing three bunch of plantains.

According to Okon-Eket New Era on Monday (16 Oct 2023), the lady was caught while trying to sell the plantains at Urua Udo Inyang Market.

“This young lady was caught red-handed stealing three bunches of plantain. She wanted to go and sell them at the popular weekly Urua Udo Inyang market, which is today, but luck ran out of her.

“She is fondly called Obot Udo Ekpo and hails from Ikot Akpandem in Okon Eket,” Okon-Eket New Era posted on Facebook.

It was further gathered that the suspect was handed over to the Police at Uqua Division by the Village Youth President, Akparawa Uyai Udo Jacob for investigation.
