Nigeria’s Super Falcons players at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Morocco have complained of their monies being stolen from their hotel rooms in Casablanca.

Falcons forward, Esther Okoronkwo who opened up, alleged that $700 was stolen from her wallet, and that other team mates had also experienced the same thing.

The AFC Toronto forward made the allegation in a series of posts on her Snapchat account, claiming that several of her teammates also had money stolen from their wallets while they were away from their rooms at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca.

Okoronkwo initially said $500 had been taken from her wallet before later correcting the amount after recounting her money.

“This hotel Marriott in Casablanca just stole about a lot of people’s money from their wallet! They just stole 500 USD from me!! They stole couple of dollars from my teammate,” she initially wrote.

She later updated the figure, saying, “Guys, I did my calculations wrong. They actually stole $700, not $500 USD.”

The Super Falcons forward subsequently accused members of the hotel’s housekeeping staff of taking the money.

“The cleaning people stole the money. So they waited while we weren’t in the room to clean and steal the money,” she wrote.

Okoronkwo also claimed that the players confronted the hotel staff over the missing money but were unhappy with the response they received.

“We started talking to them and they don’t have answers. They also started being disrespectful,” she added.

Nigeria, the record 10-time African champions, are seeking a record 11th WAFCON title.
