World Cup: ‘We jailed Ronaldinho, don’t underestimate me’ – Paraguayan Senator warns Mbappe

Paraguay Senator Celeste Amarilla has issued a stern warning to Kylian Mbappe after the forward labeled her a ‘despicable’ woman unworthy of her role.

Following the match between France and Paraguay, Amarilla ignited controversy by posting racial slurs directed at Mbappe on social media. In retaliation, the Real Madrid player accused the senator of ‘recklessness’ and ‘blatant racism.’

On Monday, Amarilla released further criticism of the France captain in an extensive open letter, reaffirming her initial statements. She asserted that the France captain displayed disrespect by failing to shake hands with Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill after Saturday’s match.

During her press conference on Tuesday, June 7, at the Congress, Amarilla claimed to be a victim of discrimination and threatened to pursue legal action against Mbappe for ‘gender and political violence.’

“I was wronged and had ample reason to file a complaint,” she stated. “I would advise (Mbappé) to read my letter, if he is capable of reading, and to be cautious with Paraguayans. We imprisoned Ronaldinho for corruption, and he should not underestimate me; I can take legal action against him for gender violence and political violence. An apology to me is warranted.”

In the midst of this controversy, the Paraguayan government condemned Amarilla’s statements, expressing that it ‘deplores and rejects’ the remarks directed at Mbappe from the senator.
