Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the reconstitution of the Kano State Sports Commission and the appointment of a new management board for Kano Pillars Football Club as part of efforts to strengthen sports administration and youth development in the state.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa.
According to the statement, Alhaji Tukur Babangida was appointed chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission. Other members include representatives of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), higher institutions, persons with disabilities and other key stakeholders.
The governor also approved the appointment of Ahmad Musbahu as chairman of the Kano Pillars Management Board, with members drawn from the club’s supporters, sports ambassadors and experienced sports administrators.
Yusuf charged the newly appointed officials to use their experience to reposition sports in the state, develop young talents and restore Kano Pillars to its former glory.
He expressed confidence that the new leadership would promote professionalism, improve sports administration and deliver greater success for the state’s sporting sector.
