Zahrah Audu has stepped into the saddle as the new director general (DG) of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

This follows the approval of her appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The appointment was announced in a statement signed by George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, on Monday, January 20, 2025.

According to Akume, the move is aimed at invigorating Nigeria’s economic landscape.

Audu, who also confirmed her new position on her LinkedIn page, replaces Jumoke Oduwole, who is now the minister of industry, trade and investment.

“Zahrah is an entrepreneur and technology expert. She is expected to bring her experience in business development, innovation, and investment promotion to her new role,” the statement reads.

Audu holds a background in software engineering and a business management degree from a prestigious institution in the United Kingdom (UK).

Before her appointment, she served as the technical adviser on foreign direct investment (FDI) to the president, based in the office of the vice president.

As PEBEC DG, Audu will spearhead the “Invest in Nigeria” campaign and coordinate the Existing Foreign Direct Investors Roundtable Forum, helping to strengthen Nigeria’s position as a viable investment destination.

Zahrah is also a recognised philanthropist, actively working to uplift underprivileged communities across Nigeria.

According to the statement, through her various initiatives, she has built strong relationships with international organisations and governments, advocating for policies that enhance economic opportunities for Nigerians.
