The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), FCT Command, has arrested 10 illegal immigrants for unlawful stay within the country.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSI Anyanwu Ifeanyi Paul, on 1st October, the illegal immigrants were arrested during a night raid operation in Abuja.
Those arrested include five Nepalese nationals and five Sri Lankan nationals – all found to be in violation of Immigration laws.
The swift and decisive action by CIS BAS PEPPLE, Comptroller of Immigration Service FCT Command, underscores the commitment of the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, CGIS Kemi Nanna Nandap, to upholding the integrity of the nation’s borders and ensuring that Immigration regulations are enforced effectively.
“The arrested individuals were unable to provide valid documentation to support their continuous stay in the country, leading to their arrest by Immigration officials.
“This operation exemplifies our dedication to maintaining order and security within the FCT,” said CIS BAS PEPPLE.
“We are resolute in our efforts to prevent irregular migration and address any breaches of our immigration laws.”
“The Nigeria Immigration Service FCT Command urges all individuals residing in the country to ensure that their Immigration status is in compliance with the relevant regulations and to cooperate fully with immigration authorities at all times.
“The NIS FCT Command remains vigilant in its mission to safeguard the FCT and protect the interests of the Nigerian people.
“The arrested individuals are currently in custody and will be processed in accordance with Nigeria Immigration laws.”
