Bomb detonated by woman carrying baby on her back kills 8, injures 15

The police have confirmed that the bomb detonated by a woman carrying a baby on her back killed eight people and injured 15 others.

Converseer reports that on Saturday, 29th June 2024, a female suicide bomber carrying a baby detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a gathering in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Confirming the incident, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Police Public Relations Officer in Borno State said the woman and her baby are among the eight people who died, adding that 15 others sustained various degrees of injuries.

“The tragic incident occurred on June 29, 2024, at approximately 15:40 hours.

“A woman carrying a baby detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a busy motor park in Mararaba T. Junction in Gwoza town.

“The explosion claimed the lives of the woman, her baby, and six others, with fifteen individuals who sustained injuries currently receiving treatment at General Hospital Gwoza,” the statement by the police spokesperson read.
