The Organised Labour has said it has not suspended its indefinite strike that started on Monday, 3rd June 2024.
Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Council embarked on the nationwide strike after the Federal Government failed to meet their demands which included but were not limited to “increase minimum wage to N494,000 and reverse hike in electricity tariff from N255 to N66.”
The Organised Labour then held a meeting on Tuesday, 4th June 2024, with the Federal Government led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and reached an agreement.
In a statement on Wednesday, 5th June 2024, Labour said it only relaxed the indefinite strike and did not suspend it as reported.
“Indefinite strike relaxed, not suspended.

The Labour further stated that the relaxation of the indefinite strike is for 7 days, following what will become of the outcome between their agreement and the Federal Government.
Recall also that during the strike, Labour shut down everywhere, including Airports and National Grid putting the entire nation into total darkness, which further grounded economic activities in the nation.
