A tragic incident involving a young aspiring content creator has sparked widespread outrage on social media after allegations surfaced against a popular Nigerian Facebook influencer, Odogwu Asaba.
According to accounts shared online, the deceased, identified as 19-year-old Favour Agboro from Ughelli in Delta State, had reached out to Odogwu Asaba, a 44-year-old content creator with more than 350,000 Facebook followers, seeking mentorship on Facebook and TikTok monetisation.
It is alleged that Favour contacted the influencer via direct message, expressing interest in learning how to legitimately earn income through content creation.
Odogwu reportedly invited her to Asaba, explaining that he only conducted physical training sessions and would personally guide her through the monetisation process.
Reports claim that before travelling, Favour made it clear she was not interested in any romantic relationship and only wanted to learn the business of content creation. She allegedly told the influencer that she was still a virgin and was focused solely on building a career online.
According to the allegations, Odogwu assured her that she had nothing to fear and suggested they meet at a hotel rather than his residence so she would feel more comfortable.
However, after arriving in Asaba, Favour allegedly experienced a traumatic ordeal. According to claims circulating on social media, the influencer sexually assaulted her in the hotel room despite her resistance. It is further alleged that he later left her without medical assistance or adequate support.
The reports further state that Favour contacted her twin sister to recount what had happened. Her mother reportedly sent her money to enable her to return home after becoming concerned about her welfare.
It is also alleged that Favour later informed the influencer that she was still bleeding and questioned why he had betrayed her trust. According to the claims, he subsequently sent her 10,000 naira before allegedly attempting to intimidate her.
Seeking justice, Favour reportedly approached an activist for assistance. However, according to the account shared online, she was allegedly told that the influencer’s status and influence would make it difficult to pursue the matter successfully.
