An Open Letter to Cross River State Government from a Concerned Citizen

Addressing Recent Issues and Ensuring a September to Remember in Cross River State

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my deep concern about the recent issues plaguing our beloved Cross River State, which have garnered significant attention and, regrettably, tarnished the image of our paradise tourism destination.

One of the most pressing concerns we are currently facing is the deplorable state of our roads. The road infrastructure in Cross River State has deteriorated significantly in recent times, causing immense hardship for both residents and tourists alike. The potholes and crumbling roads not only endanger lives but also hinder economic activities in the state. This issue demands immediate attention and a comprehensive plan for road rehabilitation and maintenance.

Another distressing issue that has gained notoriety is the unfortunate incidents of manhood missing. These incidents have left our citizens living in fear and apprehension. It is imperative that the state government takes decisive action to ensure the safety and security of its people. We need increased vigilance, robust law enforcement, and public awareness campaigns to combat this disturbing trend and restore a sense of security to our community.

With the forthcoming Carnival-themed “Season of Sweetness,” which is a highlight of our state’s cultural calendar, it is crucial that we address these issues promptly and effectively. The carnival is not only a source of joy and pride for our state but also a significant revenue generator through tourism. To ensure a September to remember, we must act swiftly and proactively.

I urge the state government to consider the following solutions and a way forward:

1. Road Rehabilitation: Allocate sufficient funds and resources for the immediate repair and maintenance of our road infrastructure. Engage reputable construction companies to execute these projects efficiently.

2. Security Enhancement: Collaborate closely with security agencies to enhance surveillance and increase police presence in vulnerable areas. Launch public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on personal safety.

3. Community Engagement: Establish community-based initiatives to promote unity and cooperation among residents. Encourage the public to report suspicious activities promptly.

4. Tourism Promotion: Despite these challenges, Cross River State remains a paradise for tourists. Launch a campaign to highlight the state’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and tourism potential to attract visitors.

5. Accountability and Transparency: Ensure that government spending is transparent and accountable. Engage citizens through town hall meetings and regular updates on progress made in addressing these issues.

Cross River State has always been known for its warmth, hospitality, and vibrant culture. Let us work together to overcome these challenges and restore our paradise tourism state to its former glory. I remain optimistic that with the right actions, Cross River State can once again shine as a destination for unforgettable experiences.

Thank you for your attention to these pressing matters, and I look forward to witnessing a September to remember in our beloved state.

Sincerely,
Cynthia Maduekwe
