$350m Railway Project: Cross River Unveils Topographical Mapping for Calabar-Ugep Route

Calabar, Nigeria – The $350 million Grand Litora Railway project, aimed at connecting all major cities in Cross River State, Nigeria, achieved a significant milestone with the unveiling of the topographical mapping for the initial 104km Calabar-Ugep route.

The presentation occurred on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Tinapa Free Zone Resort, underscoring Cross River State’s commitment, in partnership with Rinehooke Ltd, to advancing the 365km railway initiative.

Governor Bassey Otu, who inaugurated the project earlier in the year, reiterated its role in fostering unity and economic progress by linking the southern and northern districts of the state.

Key features of the railway include main terminals in Calabar and Obudu, and sub-stations at Ugep, Ikom, and Ogoja.

Nelson Elemi, CEO of Rinehook Investment Ltd, described the railway as a transformative force for tourism and development, enhancing mobility and showcasing the state’s rich tourism potential.

Once completed, the Grand Litora Railway is expected to revolutionise transportation, trade, and tourism, positioning Cross River as a leading destination for investment and leisure.
