A new report claims that Chinese espionage threats increased in the United States during the Biden-Harris administration.
A “threat snapshot” completed by the House Committee on Homeland Security and obtained by The Daily Wire showed over 60 cases of “CCP-related Espionage” across 20 states from January of 2021 to February of 2025. The Chinese espionage cases included the transmission of “sensitive military information” to China, the theft of trade secrets, and “transnational repression schemes” targeting individuals who are critical of the Chinese Communist Party.
Addressing the increased Chinese espionage threats under the Biden-Harris administration, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green (R-Tenn.) told The Daily Wire, “The PRC has gained significant ground in its information warfare on American soil over the past four years.”
“If you think the U.S. military and our government are the only targets of the Chinese Communist Party, think again,” Green added. “The shadow of Beijing’s malign influence falls upon American businesses, university campuses, and the critical infrastructure we rely on — not to mention those on U.S. soil who dare to speak out against the CCP.”

According to the threat snapshot shared by the House Committee on Homeland Security, roughly 80% of economic espionage prosecutions “allege conduct that would benefit the Chinese state,” while approximately 60% of all trade theft cases are linked to China in some way. The threat snapshot also revealed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) opens a new case to counter Chinese intelligence operations every 12 hours.
Additionally, the committee’s threat snapshot warned that China is a “top perpetrator of transnational repression to silence dissidents critical of the authoritarian regime in the world.”
The Daily Wire reported that the most recent Chinese espionage incident was revealed earlier this month when Chinese national Linwei Ding was indicted for allegedly stealing trade secrets linked to Google’s artificial intelligence.
Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence Chairman August Pfluger (R-Texas) told The Daily Wire, “The People’s Republic of China is more than just a distant geopolitical adversary; the Chinese Communist Party is working to undermine U.S. sovereignty in our own backyards.”
While the House Committee on Homeland Security highlighted the increased threats of Chinese espionage that occurred during the Biden-Harris administration, The Daily Wire reported that House Republicans expressed optimism regarding the promises Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have made regarding the Trump administration’s plans to counter Chinese influence.
“With strength back in the White House and Texas leading the way, Beijing’s malign influence will no longer fly under the radar,” Pfluger told The Daily Wire.
